I really enjoyed this piece Stef. My experience has been similar. It is said that there is a human need for connection, but the jury is out for me…the need I see looks more like attention. It is hard to find anyone that wants to have a deep conversation about something other than themselves. Don’t get me wrong thats important too, but what about curiosity, what happened? Great Article, well done.
Thank you Kevin. Regarding attention vs. connection. I also think it can look like attention. But I believe it's not from bad intentions. I think so much of what we need was never modeled to us, this includes curiosity. If it was never shown to us, how can we show it to others? I think people need time to think, reflect, and ask themselves how they can be more curious, what does that look and sound like? If it was never modeled, it means we have to take it into our own hands to learn how. For example, does one need to work on thinking of questions? Can we review past conversations and consider if we had a do-over, what questions would we want to ask? I'm glad to know this lands with other people and appreciate your comment!
